#07 Pedro Vieira, Coach & Master Trainer

There are people and conversations that mark us. Pedro Vieira was one of the people who marked me, almost without realising it. I remember that I was “at the beginning” of preparing the round the world, something that later gave rise to the Make It Happen, When I talked to people around me, potential sponsors and partners, the answers I got back always showed some “discredit” for what I wanted to do, something that left me limited and even questioning my dream. I was told things like “you won't make it”, “that's impossible”, “you're a kid and you don't realise things”...

Well...

One day I decided to email Pedro, we made an appointment and he was certainly one of the first three people who didn't look at me like I was a lunatic. Instead he said:
“Around the world? Incredible, congratulations on your courage! How are you going to put it into practice? What are the next steps?”

The way in which, instead of limiting a dream, he gave it the “opportunity” to take flight, making me think and gain clarity, was something unique.

A few years on from that conversation, yesterday I had the opportunity to speak to Pedro Vieira again in a remarkable conversation that I will “keep” to revisit several times throughout my life, such were the lessons learnt.

1. “When someone says to me, ‘Opah, you won't make it’, what they're saying is that if they were me, they don't think they could.”;
2. “To believe, the first thing to do is to decide that I'm going to believe. Believing is above all a decision!”
