Do I have a good idea? Making your business happen is a process. Over the course of 7 videos, I'll cover the various stages of this adventure. It will be the 7 videos for anyone thinking of making their business happen.
Making a business happen usually starts with an idea. Have you ever thought ‘I wonder if this idea would work’?.
In this first video I talk about that: good ideas. In fact, instead of ideas, I suggest talking about opportunities, something I often talk about in my videos. trainings, lectures and in the mentoring.
Ideas are just that: ideas. They're cheap and they're everywhere. However, when we think about making a business happen, we have to look for opportunities! And what are opportunities? They are a set of favourable circumstances that come together in such a way that they give rise to an opening / need in the environment. And how do I know if it's a good opportunity? In principle, the more favourable circumstances there are, the better the opportunity... What do you mean, favourable circumstances? In practice we need to look for indicators that together form an opportunity. I always like to suggest that instead of ideas we look for opportunities and then think about what idea might make sense given the opportunity that exists.
Some thoughts on opportunities:
- Opportunities only exist if there is a market;
- What is an opportunity for some may not be for others;
- Opportunities are not exclusive;
- The more opportunities you look for, the better opportunities you will find. Quantity (usually) begets quality;
- Whenever something changes in the environment, opportunities arise;
- Opportunities rarely come to us. You have to actively seek them out and not let them get you down. It's an ongoing process.
