Making it happen in 7 steps!

Making things happen, whether in business or in your personal life, is within everyone's reach.

Making it Happen is the motto! However, the truth is that not everyone does it. After travelling around the world talking to entrepreneurs and inspirational people, I discovered some habits and traits that unite all these successful people.

Every year I, like most people, rethink my life and my career. At the beginning, end or during the year, I make plans, set goals and things I want to change and make happen.

If you want to make it happen, these are my seven recommendations:
1- Have a strong cause and be willing to go the “extra mile”.

Having a cause, an idea or a project that you believe in is crucial. Something you're really passionate about and willing to go the extra mile for. In fact, you know that “extra mile” you're willing to go for the person you love, but you only do it for them and no one else? Passion has these things. Well, translate that feeling into your project. This extra dedication will bring surprising results. Work extra hard and everything else - yes, money too - will follow.

2- Don't wait for ideal conditions.
If you wait for all the resources you need to start a new project, it will probably never get off the drawing board. Take what you have on hand, adapt it and go for it. Even on a small scale, just start.

3- Make a plan and trust it.
If you want to reach your destination, you need to know where you are and how you're going to get there. Talk to people who have already done what you're proposing, read articles, study and plan well. Draw up a clear plan of action. In this day and age of complexity, challenge and uncertainty, nothing comes cheap. Prepare yourself for the various situations and then... take the step. Believe in yourself.

4- Make “no” a motivation.
Many people around you will doubt your ability, your idea and your project. Yes, this will happen. Point 1: be aware of this and be prepared for it. Don't let it get you down. Listen carefully, think twice about what you've been told, but don't let it get you down. Point 2: turn “negativity” into fuel. “It's not going to work out? You'll see if it doesn't...”. Believe it!

5- Whatever the problem, be part of the solution.
Probably the most visible and striking characteristic of those who make things happen. Problems and challenges exist everywhere, but the way you react to adversity clearly distinguishes these people. Those who truly want to make things happen always put themselves on the side of solutions, constantly seeking to resolve the various challenges that life and projects bring. And for every 100 problems, they find 101 solutions.

6- Surround yourself with people who help you fill your glass.
Starting projects and “making it happen” is never easy. Not at all. In this process we need support (especially moral support) from those close to us. In the story of the glass half full or half empty, we need to surround ourselves with people who, however empty the glass may be, help us to fill it. Who help us think and move forward. Not those who pull us back or cause more doubts and anxieties.

7- Create your own luck.
Do it, don't wait. As Vinícius de Moraes said: “Do you want it? Then make it happen, because the only thing that falls from the sky is rain!”. It's up to you to fight for what you want, not others. You have to be resourceful. You have to fight for what you dream of and make it happen. There's no other choice. If you don't do it, nobody will do it for you. You have to go all out, hold on with all your might and make your own luck.

We all have dreams and goals that we'd like to realise. For some, it will be to travel round the world, for others to find a job, for others to put that business idea into practice, or to buy a new car. Big or small, we all have them. To make it happen, it doesn't matter who you are, what you're doing or what your goal or dream is. Our success doesn't depend on our circumstances, but on our choices. It doesn't matter where we start. If we want to make it happen, we need to act. Live intensely and search for something that often only we believe in. We have to take risks, try and not stop until we make it happen. We have to adapt by putting in a lot of hard work, sacrifice and dedication.

Making it happen is within everyone's reach.
